My Mission
My mission is to tell stories that inspire
nuance, curiosity, and love—
to heal each other & the earth.
For me, everything comes down to stories. Our stories are our humanity. Religions, nations, instagram accounts— they’re all stories.
When I stand onstage as an actor, I’m saying our stories matter. Your story matters. As an actress, I’m also inevitably saying women’s stories matter.
As a journalist and author, I dig to find nuance, to inspire curiosity and wonder. I tell little-known histories. I tell women’s stories. I write to think out my thoughts.
As the wise Anne Bogart put it, we are the stories we tell. As an actor, I tell stories to live many lives, to see the love that connects all of us. As a writer, I tell stories to inspire curiosity and nuance.
to heal each other
Stories can make us feel so fragile, so human. They can leave us without words wandering silently out of a movie or play.
Stories can also be a balm. They can be a weighted blanket on quiet Friday nights.
Stories heal. They remind us how interconnected we all are, that we’re all the same. Stories remind us we’re perfect in our imperfections. Stories remind us of our power.
to heal the Earth
We are hurting the Earth. We are raising the Earth’s temperature, destroying habitats, pushing chemicals into once-fertile soil. It ain’t good.
Shrinking the human population (along with government initiatives) is how we heal the Earth.
By supporting all women (all colors, nationalities, income brackets), by making abortion and birth control readily available, we can reduce overpopulation.
By telling women’s stories, by donating to organizations that support women, I protect and heal our one precious Earth.
Stories that connect us to one another, also connect us to the Earth, to the animals, to the coral in the sea. We are all connected, and stories remind us of that.
